Welcome to the Westford Public Schools Private Lesson Program!  This Program was set up to provide quality music instruction at a convenient location at a reasonable cost to the Westford educational community.  The Program provides beginner and continuing lessons on all wind, string, and percussion instruments as well as voice.  Students may begin instruction on string instruments in Grade 3, band/percussion instruments in Grade 4, and voice beginning in Grade 9.

 

Participation in this Program develops the essential knowledge and skills that enable full participation in the various music ensembles scheduled during the school day.  Lessons are taught by a staff of highly qualified professional teachers who strive to share their expertise and love of music.  Lessons will be offered at Westford Academy, and will be available after school hours on a weekly basis.  This Program supports the Instrumental and Choral Programs that are offered during the school day.

The Program at a glance:

Children served:  Beginner through advanced students starting in Grade 3 -Strings, Grade 4-Band/Percussion, Grade 9-Voice

Location:  Lessons will be taught at Westford Academy.

Hours/Days of the week:  Will vary by teacher, but your lesson time will remain consistent throughout the school year.  Lessons will be offered throughout the school year (September-May), and there will be no lessons during vacation weeks or on holidays.  Lessons will be automatically canceled when there is a weather related cancellation or when the Superintendent has designated that "Afternoon/Evening Activities have been canceled in the Westford Public Schools."  This information is available (in the case of inclement weather) on our school website as well as local television news stations and websites.

Program Format:  The school year will be divided into 2 semesters, each lasting 15 weeks.  The first semester will run from September through December, and the second semester will run from January through May.  There is a yearly registration fee of $25 per family.  Please click here for policies.

 

Program Staff:  Teachers are professionals in their area of study who hold degrees in music and or music education.

Organizational Structure:  The Westford Public Schools Private Lesson Program is part of the Visual and Performing Arts Department of the Westford Public Schools and is self-supported through tuition fees, and administered by the Visual and Performing Arts Curriculum Coordinator.
